Rudiger: Chelsea players should be ashamed!

October 27, 2019 0 Comments

first_imgAntonio Rudiger has said Chelsea should be ashamed of their performance against Bournemouth on Wednesday night. The Blues lost 4-0 on the south coast, causing manager Maurizio Sarri to lock his players in the dressing room for 45 minutes after the game, as he searched for answers to Chelsea’s subpar showing. While Rudiger did not offer an explanation as to what happened on Wednesday, he did claim the performance – which ended in Sarri’s side suffering the club’s worst league defeat for 23 years – was unacceptable. Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? “Everyone needs to be ashamed of what happened in the last game,” the Germany international told Sky Sports.“Everyone needs to think very deeply about that because you can win, lose or draw, but it’s the manner which is important.”In the second half, I can’t really describe it. We went out and they scored after two minutes then things went very badly. Nothing came from us – N’Golo [Kante] had a half chance but that was it.”If you look at the view of football, we made it too easy for Bournemouth by losing the ball up front – everyone knows Bournemouth are going on the counter, and they were waiting for this.”We have played better this season and that’s what hurts, we didn’t really try to change this result, that is what is badRudiger has called for calm after the shock defeat and believes that Chelsea’ success during the remainder of the season will depend on their mental strength.“We call ourselves a top team, but this cannot happen to us,”he said.Antonio Rudiger“We have to be mentally strong for the rest of the season. It’s clear now, we are Chelsea, there has been a lot of criticism from outside but here we must be cool in our mind and be honest with ourselves.”Tactics is not my business because I am not the coach, I am a player, but everyone needs to commit again“We need to go back to basics because it’s not normal for a Bournemouth player to take on four defenders and go through.”Those basics are to win challenges, to look for challenges. It’s nice if you have possession but everyone needs to know what their job is, which is, first and foremost, getting a clean sheet.”We have to find continuity because right now there are too many ups and downs. We have to win against Huddersfield and show a big reaction after the Bournemouth defeat.”The Blues will look to bounce back when they host bottom side Huddersfield Town on Saturday. Elite Coach Responds To Possibility Of Losing Starting QB To MLB Draft

October 26, 2019 0 Comments

first_imgkyler murray plays at ohio stateKyler Murray MLB Draft update: the Oklahoma quarterback continues to be an exciting outfield prospect. Murray, who is projected to take over for Baker Mayfield for the Sooners, is having an excellent season on the diamond. That has many wondering if he’ll even be in Norman this fall.Last month, ESPN baseball expert Keith Law raved about Murray as a baseball prospect. He ranked him as the No. 36 prospect in the country, and said that his stock could rise if he was to focus on baseball. From The Oklahoman:“Murray is slated to start at quarterback this fall for the Sooners, but if he’s finally ready to play baseball full time, his plus-plus speed and contact-oriented swing would make him a first-round pick — especially since he’s played fairly well since moving into the Sooners’ lineup in the third weekend of the spring.”On the season, Murray is hitting .295, with nine home runs and 44 RBIs. He also has three outfield assists, flashing the arm that Sooner fans hope dazzles on the gridiron in a few months. The main Kyler Murray MLB Draft concern for Oklahoma football is that he could be in line for a big guaranteed deal if he goes early. The MLB Draft is set for June 4-6. If Murray is taken in the first few rounds, as is projected, he could be offered over $1 million in guaranteed money. His stock seems to be rising. 247Sports college baseball analyst Kyle Peterson says he is among the most exciting prospects in the sport right now:“From a scout’s standpoint, when you look at Kyler Murray, you see potential—and a ton of it,” said college baseball analyst Kyle Peterson. “The power potential is there. You can’t teach power. You can’t teach speed. He has both of those things, and when he has a chance to play this game on a consistent basis…He’s not a premier defender yet in center, but you can teach him to be a premier defender in center field because he has the speed most people don’t have.“Is there a possibility Kyler Murray gets enough money, enough of an offer from a major league club that he says, ‘You know what—sorry, Sooners, I’m out of here?’ I don’t know. I tell you one thing with absolute certainty: There’s a significant future for him in this game. I don’t know when. But he’s an exciting prospect. And to me, as exciting a prospect in the outfield as we have in college baseball just because the upside is so good.”Lincoln Riley is not worried about it, at least publicly. Associated Press college football writer Ralph D. Russo had Riley on his latest podcast, and the coach said he is comfortable with the situation.“Yeah, I don’t really have any concerns with it,” Riley said. “You know, Kyler and I have had some good, private conversations about it, and I’m comfortable where he and his family are at with it and I think he’s comfortable where we’re at with it. So we’ll proceed and certainly expect to have him.”If the Kyler Murray MLB Draft selection results in him leaving Oklahoma, the Sooners will likely turn to sophomore Austin Kendall to start at quarterback. Kendall didn’t see time last season, while Murray was 18-for-21 for 359 yards, three touchdowns, as well as 142 rushing yards in relief of Mayfield.[247Sports; Associated Press]last_img read more

AD Says One Of College Football’s Best Rivalries Could Come Back

October 26, 2019 0 Comments

first_imgA general view of fans before a game between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Texas Longhorns.AUSTIN, TX – SEPTEMBER 19: A general view of fans before a game between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Texas Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on September 19, 2009 in Austin, Texas. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)Rivalry games have been one of the great losses of conference realignment. There are a few major games that have not been played since teams started shifting leagues. The most notable may be Texas vs. Texas A&M.The Aggies left for the SEC in 2012. For those first few years, with Johnny Manziel under center, it looked like A&M might leave Texas behind. Instead, they’ve come back to the pack, and now both schools have made recent coaching changes. The Longhorns and Aggies have had plenty of clashes in recruiting over top in-state players. There is definitely plenty of animosity remaining. To this point, there hasn’t been a lot of public momentum for the series to be renewed. However, there may be a spark now.New Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte, who recently came over from TCU, said that he’d like to bring it back “at some point.” It is unclear what the timetable could be, but it is good to hear that it is at least under consideration.Del Conte spoke to Dallas Morning News writer Chuck Carlton about the future of the dormant Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry.Chris Del Conte on renewing UT/A&M football rivalry: “At some point and time we will pick up our rivalry. It’s important to our state and important to our fan base. I’m assuming when it’s appropriate and ready, we’ll play…We’d like to do that, it’s just matching up schedules.”— Chuck Carlton (@ChuckCarltonDMN) May 30, 2018Don’t get too excited yet, Aggies and Longhorns. Finding space on the schedule is a whole other issue.Texas currently has marquee opponents booked through 2027. This season, the ‘Horns play USC and Maryland, and from there, games against LSU, Arkansas, Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State are on the books.A&M’s nearest availability is likely not until 2026. The Aggies have games booked against Clemson in 2018 and 2019, and Colorado, Miami, and Notre Dame through 2025.Games do occasionally get pushed or cancelled to make room for others, and if there is a real desire by UT and A&M brass to get this done, it could happen. For now, we have to settle on some vaguely hopeful words.last_img read more

Report: Two Former 4-Star Recruits Are Transferring Out Of Michigan

Michigan won the game 41-8. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh brought in a heralded recruiting class in 2016. His haul was ranked in the top 10 nationally. Now, it looks like two players from that group are set to leave the program. Their departure has been rumored for several days.Yesterday, Harbaugh mentioned that two players were transferring from Michigan. Internet murmurings claimed the players were running back Kareem Walker and wide receiver Kekoa Crawford. Now, a report from WTOL-11’s Jordan Strack states that Walker and Crawford are indeed leaving.Jim Harbaugh referenced 2 players leaving Michigan yesterday…I’m told that internet speculation is true: Kareem Walker & Kekoa Crawford are transferring.— Jordan Strack (@JordanStrack) June 5, 2018Both Walker and Crawford were four-star recruits in the 2016 cycle. Walker was the 107th-rated player nationally, while Crawford was No. 118.Walker didn’t play in 2016 and then never cracked the lineup much in 2017. He received just 20 carries, rushing for 68 yards and one touchdown.Crawford caught four passes in 2016 and increased that number to 12 in 2017. He caught one touchdown pass in each of the last two seasons.Obviously, Michigan has other players at these positions, but its always disappointing to see major recruits fail to thrive when they get to your program.last_img read more

Michelle Beadle Has Strong Response To Those Upset With Her Today

October 26, 2019 0 Comments

first_imgMichelle Beadle tells white men to shut up and listen.ESPNIn light of the last night’s Urban Meyer decision at Ohio State, ESPN’s Michelle Beadle made a pretty bold proclamation. Despite the fact that she co-hosts a show that discusses football pretty much every day, she says that she is completely done with the sport.Beadle said that she did not watch the NFL season, and will not do so this year either. Now, after the Ohio State situation, she says she’s done with college football on Saturdays as well.Michelle Beadle’s comments on Get Up made the rounds this morning, as many learned of the three-game suspension for Ohio State football.@MichelleDBeadle: “This will be the second season I don’t watch NFL.” pic.twitter.com/nsCI3OdGP3— ✏️Jacob Feldman (@JacobFeldman4) August 23, 2018The Big Lead transcribed Beadle’s comments:“There’s a reason why this will be the second season I don’t watch NFL and I don’t spend my Saturdays watching college football either. I believe that the sport of football has set itself up to be in a position where it shows itself in the bigger picture to not really care about women — they don’t really care about people of color, but we won’t get into that for NFL either — but as a woman I feel like a person who has been marginalized.”“And every single one of these stories that comes out, every single time, pushes me further and further away. I realize they don’t care, but for me it’s opened up my weekends. I appreciate you for giving that to me. I don’t care anymore. I’ve lost the ability to be surprised. You got three games. You could’ve been fired. They could’ve gotten away with not having to pay you a single dime. You survived it, and not only did you survive it, but you didn’t have the grace enough to at least look over the statement you were handed seven seconds before and pretend that you meant a single word in it. The entire thing is a disgrace. I’m just numb to it. I’m just ready for NBA to kick off, quite frankly. That’s what I’m here for.”You can take exception with Beadle’s decision, though it is her’s alone to make. However, some of the feedback she’s gotten online is absolutely disgusting. This afternoon, Beadle shared one message she received on Instagram, via Twitter. On Twitter, she wrote:“A reminder: (I didn’t beat a woman. I didn’t lie about someone beating a woman. I didn’t claim to be a leader of men and hide behind memory loss.) but I’m the enemy?”The message:A horrible message Michelle Beadle received on Instagram after announcing her football boycott. However you feel about Beadle or her decision, there is absolutely no excuse for that.last_img read more

SCG is traditionally expected to assist the spinners and Paine said they were considering the addition of leg-spinner Marnus Labuschagne into the final XI.The four-Test series is currently in favour of India 2-1 and with the Border-Gavaskar trophy already retained by India, Australia are only looking to save the series at home.Paine said even as Labuschagne remained an option, they still want to weigh up the squad and see the balance and the pitch.”It’s just team balance really,” Paine told reporters on the eve of the fourth and final Test at the SCG. “There’s ongoing discussion the last day or two but we’ll have a final look at the wicket [this afternoon] and we’ll have our last chat then.”We’re not too far away. As I said all along, we’ll be looking to pick the best XI that we think is the best combination to win this Test and the wicket will play a part in that.”Australia’s batting has been under severe scrutiny for not putting up good scores on the board for the bowlers to defend. On the other hand, Shane Warne came up hard at the bowlers after the MCG Test for not being efficient enough against the top 6 of India. India vs Australia, 4th Test: Marcus Harris’s opening partner has still not been finalised. Usman Khawaja, who performed well as an opener in UAE, is being considered for a slot up top.advertisement”Uzzie’s opening record in Test cricket is very good,” Paine said. “He’s been on record a few times saying he’s not too fussed where he bats.”If that’s the way we go, Usman will go out and give his all as he always does. I think the way he’s handled the last month or so has been exemplary, it’s a real credit to him.”On the other hand, Peter Handscomb was seen practicing in the nets on the New Year’s day and could find himself back in the playing XI for the SCG Test.”If we think India were to play two spinners Pete could be a really important player for us,” Paine said.”We know how good a player of spin he is. That’s one of the discussions we’ll be having today, if we think India will go that way and if they are, are we prepared to bring him back in.”I’m sure if he does (play), he’s an excellent player of spin and contributes a lot to the group in the field and around the team.”He’s a bit like Marnus in that he’s a very good package, a good person around our team.”On the other hand, India announced their 13-man squad for the Sydney Test and have named three spinners in the squad. With Ashwin not 100 per cent fit and Rohit Sharma back home with wife Ritika Sajdeh after their first child was born, India have also added KL Rahul in the squad.India’s 13-man squad: Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane (VC), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav. Also Read | 7 Australian players turn up for practice at SCG on New Year’s DayAlso Read | Australian Prime Minister hosts Virat Kohli and Tim Paine’s men at official residenceAlso Read | Best babysitter: Tim Paine’s wife shares photo of Rishabh Pant with her kidsAlso Watch | Fans in Sydney enamoured with Virat Kohli ahead of New Year’s TestAlso Watch | I have been able to manage my injuries due to effort I have put in: Virat KohliFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. For example the blue wool trench coat that Devina wears as a layer could easily worn as a wrap dress. The colours for this season are navy, olive, grey with some on pops of mustard. In terms of other fabrics, she’s used wool, organza, net or tulle and crepe. Each garment goes through a considerable number of processes before it is ready. Leather pieces are either diecut or laser-cut, then hand painted or shaded and rivets or chain links and zips seen then attached to fabrics often with “hardware” she would use in her bags and only then is the fabric ready to be cut and put together as an outfit. Small on bags add texture to the garment.advertisementPrice: Rs 18,000 onwardsAt: Devina Juneja, 44 Matheswartalla RoadTel: 9830068686 Mita Jatia (L) in a belt anarkali gown and Dipika Agarwal in a lehenga sari by Peppermint Diva. The oldest player to score in a Women’s World Cup final, she struck a familiar victorious pose with arms outstretched.Lavelle, at 24 the team’s up-and-coming star, added a goal on an 18-foot left-footed shot in the 69th after a solo run up the center of the field.Fans, many dressed in red, white and blue, chanted “Equal Pay!” at the final whistle, a reminder players sued the U.S. Soccer Federation in March claiming gender discrimination.Rapinoe drew the ire of U.S. President Donald Trump during the tournament by saying she and teammates would refuse to visit the White House, part of the team’s wider push for gender equity. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio needed just a few seconds after the final whistle to invite the team to a ticker-tape parade up the Canyon on Heroes in Manhattan on Wednesday.advertisementThe Americans never trailed in the tournament and set records with 26 goals and a 12-game World Cup winning streak dating to 2015. U.S. coach Jill Ellis became the first coach to lead a team to two Women’s World Cup titles, and the U.S. joined Germany in 2003 and 2007 as the only repeat champions. With confidence and brashness that some called even arrogant triggering a backlash that the angry response was sexist – this American team established a standard of excellence that will be a goal for other U.S. teams and the rest of the world to match. Former American players joined the current generation on the field for the postgame celebration. For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
