Launceston has a new hotel – Peppers Silo Hotel – and the doors to the ten level, 108 guest room property are now open to the public.Located in a prime position on the edge of Tasmania’s River Tamar, and close to the beautiful Cataract Gorge, the property was originally erected in 1960, and the Kings Wharf grain silos were left unused for decades. The hotel includes a restaurant and bar called Grain of the Silos, undercover car parking, conference facilities for up to 500 people, an integrated lobby and reception space, fully equipped gym, day spa, child minding facilities, hairdressing salon, function centre, private dining rooms, restaurant and cocktail bar with views overlooking the water all the way to Cataract Gorge.Gorge River RoomDriving Grain of the Silos’ kitchen are Head Chef Peter Twitchett, and Food Director and TV personality Massimo Mele, who will oversee the menu in an advisory role. Both Peter and Massimo recently completed a food tour, meeting all of the local producers they will be working with to source only the best ingredients. Archie is a beautiful black Labrador who resides at the hotel and helps concierge with daily tasks such as greeting guests and delivering the morning newspapers to guests staying at Peppers Silo.
